I grew up in a family where my dad was the only man, sharing his life with four women — my mom, my grandma, myself and my sister. He never seemed phased by the skewed demographics in our family, on the contrary. He often used to say (and still does) that ‘strong men have girls’ and that he’d fervently hoped for daughters when he found out he’d be a father.
